Hello! I am presently a doctoral candidate in Hispanic Studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I hope to graduate by May of 2000. The title of my dissertation is Caosmos postmodernista: Lectura de la metaficción historiográfica. I am writing about the postmodern novels of Abel Posse and Juan Goytisolo. I will present a paper on Juan Goytisolo at the 15th Annual Mid-America Conference on Hispanic Literature at the University of Missouri-Columbia in October of 1999. I presently teach Spanish at Columbia College in Chicago, Illinois, and at Morton College in Cicero, Illinois. Hopefully, I will someday obtain a full-time position. I really enjoy teaching! I was in the United States Marine Corps from 1978 to 1981. Since I had three years in the service, I qualified for the Illinois Veterans Grant that paid most of my tuition through my first year of graduate school. Otherwise, I would have had difficulty paying for my tuition. I lead a full life. I also have a wife and three children who take up most of my time. Some days are so jam-packed that I get tired just thinking about my schedule. But I always keep my nose to the grindstone! |
